Whiskey Ward
121 Essex St. (Rivington St.), Manhattan
Once upon a time Sara liked the Whiskey Ward so much that she arranged numerous happy hours here. That was when she was still drinking liquor, and when this part of town was still relatively quiet. These days this dark bar hosts parties for people who bring colorful balloons, which is jarring, to say the least. But those people leave before 11 in search of "bars that are fun" (read: less chill, less Kinks via jukebox). Bouncer says it's hit or miss in terms of Age, and doesn't disagree when we suggest that older is better. We think it's worth the risk, but recommend, as always, arriving before midnight.
