We don't know when exactly we became so vain but lately hair coloring, specifically dying out gray, has become a favorite and desperate topic. A recent conversation with an AA we barely know went from Whocolorsyou to Howfrequently to Whyalwayssored to Howmuch to Whenstarted over the better part of an hour. That's one hour devoted to discussing masking hair that no longer possesses pigment. And that's not including time spent under a bodega's light analyzing roots.
What's funny is hair coloring is not about looking old; it's about looking different, not like yourself. Well, that's not exactly funny. Does it mean we're not accepting change? Possibly. Meanwhile, what really makes us nuts is the damn price and time commitment of vanity. We don't wish to be young but it surely was cost effective. It's highly likely that Colorists are about to get a category here at 30toMidnight. Stay tuned, and tinted.
P.S. That's a picture of a Starbucks sign we really enjoy.
