Costco
517 East 117th Street (East River), Manhattan
Oh yes we did, with Sara's AI brother. The siblings have only ever been in California Costcos so were not sure what to expect from this cross-country location. There were not the beer and wine deals we remembered from out west, but there were gigantic jars of pickles and tubs of olive oil and bundles of so much toilet paper even splitting wouldn't size it down to fit our apartments. In the end we shared seltzer, granola bars, mini cream cheese, crackers, lysol bathroom spray, avocados, sandwich-size ziploc bags, and each got a mega dish detergent, a mega olive oil, and Daniel got some candy, honey nut cheerios, and advil, which he held in our faces five times to exclaim his contentment: Do you realize how much I saved here? We can't say Costco is more AA than AI, but we can say it's best to go there with a car or a cart, and better if your apartment has serious storage capacity.
p.s. Officially this is called the 116th Street Costco (because of the crosstown bus, perhaps).
you saved a lot too. trust. you'll understand in a month. and perhaps you're just a wee bit bitter that i didn't buy you the huge stocking...
